Cookies and local storage
This page lists exactly what Maleda stores in your browser, why, and for how long. It applies Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC (“ePrivacy”).
In short
- Maleda uses no advertising cookies, no third-party audience-measurement trackers and no profiling tools.
- Everything Maleda stores in your browser is strictly necessary for the service you request (sign-in, security, the language you chose, the position you asked for, the notifications you subscribe to). These mechanisms are exempt from consent: no consent banner is therefore displayed for them.
- One exception: the “maleda-ref” referral cookie, set only if you arrive through a referral link. It contains no data about you, but it is classified differently: see the “Referral cookie” article.
- One possible exception: embedded third-party content (Google Street View) may set its own cookies. See the “Third-party content” article.
Browser storage (other than cookies)
| Name | Type | What it is for | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| maleda-seen:shop-name | sessionStorage | Prevents counting your visit to the same shop site several times in its visit statistics (aggregate counters, no data about you) | Until the tab is closed |
| maleda-like-login:shop-name | sessionStorage | Prevents sending you to the login page repeatedly when you click “like” while signed out | Until the tab is closed |
| maleda-depth | sessionStorage | Counts the screens visited so that going back (button or swipe from the left edge) behaves like in an app | Until the tab is closed |
| maleda-draft | localStorage | Draft of a merchant’s sign-up form (trade, name, address, telephone, business number, language, country, plan), so it can be found again after clicking the link received by e-mail. No password or card data | Until the website is created or until you clear it |
| maleda.cart.shop-name | localStorage | Pick-up order basket, specific to each shop. A display aid only: the price is always recalculated by the server | Until the order is sent or until you clear it |
| maleda-bell:shop-name | localStorage | Remembers that you are subscribed to this shop’s notifications (to show the button’s correct state) | Until you unsubscribe |
| Service worker (/sw.js) and “push” subscription | Browser service worker | Receives and displays the bell’s notifications, and keeps a copy of public pages already visited (offline mode: network first, the copy is used only without a connection; never the merchant area, login or API). Installed when you visit a Maleda site; the “push” subscription exists only if you turn the bell on | Until you unsubscribe or the browser uninstalls it |
Notifications (bell)
Subscribing to a shop’s bell is your choice: the browser asks for permission, and you may refuse. If you accept, a technical subscription address and encryption keys specific to your browser are stored by Maleda on behalf of the shop. You can unsubscribe at any time in your browser’s notification settings, or with the bell button.
Referral cookie
When you arrive on Maleda through a referrer’s link (an address containing ?ref=…), that referrer’s code is remembered in a “maleda-ref” cookie for 30 days. It is used at one moment only: when an account is created, to attach the referrer to that account (see the referral programme terms). It does not follow you to other sites, serves no advertising and contains only the referrer’s code.
Classification, in all transparency. Unlike the other cookies on this page, this cookie is not indispensable to a service you requested: it mainly serves to pay the referrer, and data protection authorities do not in principle exempt this type of cookie (“affiliate”). Maleda therefore does not present it as unreservedly exempt from consent. [TO BE COMPLETED: choose and implement one of the two solutions: (a) obtain your consent before setting the cookie (recommended); (b) set no cookie and keep the code only in the address of the sign-up page]
In any case, you may refuse or delete this cookie at any time (your browser settings): no function of the service depends on it for you; only the link to a referrer will not be made.
Third-party content
Google Street View. On a shop’s website, when the merchant has turned on Street View, the picture of the storefront is embedded content provided by Google (Maps Embed). To display it, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and information about your browser, and may set or read its own cookies, according to its privacy policy. Maleda does not control these cookies.
To avoid this: block third-party cookies in your browser settings (the site works without them), or use a content-blocking extension. The site remains usable: only the storefront picture may fail to display.
External links and pages. Links to Google Maps (directions, reviews), the Stripe payment page and the Google or Meta sign-in pages lead to third-party sites, subject to their own rules; they receive no data from Maleda before you click.
Fonts. They are served from Maleda’s own site: no connection to a third-party font service.
Managing or deleting
You can at any time view, block or delete cookies and stored data from your browser settings (“Privacy” or “Site data” section). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent some features: for example, without “maleda-session” you cannot stay signed in to the merchant area; without “maleda-lang” the language is chosen from your browser at each visit.
For any question: contact@maleda.eu. See also the privacy policy.
Changes
If Maleda ever added a cookie or tracker that is not strictly necessary (for example audience measurement), we would update this page and ask for your consent before setting it.
